Goal Personal Planning Setting Success - How to Make Getting Success Super Simple for You
Do you have a natural instinct that seems to drive you to make things more complicated than they need to be? Ive been right there with you many times, and still catch myself doing this on occasion even today. The problem is you dont even realize youre doing it to yourself. I see this desire to make things overly complicated with my clients all the time too, so realize you arent alone and there is a solution.
No matter how great a vision you have for success youll get there one goal at a time just like everyone else. When people dont get success one goal at a time the success they dreamed of crumbles around them because they arent ready for it, and they dont know how to handle it. Youve heard the stories about lottery winners who end up penniless and friendless, and celebrities whose lives turn to tragedy. The reason this happens is because they didnt develop the skills and mind set they needed to handle the success they almost instantaneously received. Getting success one goal at a time will make you fully prepared to enjoy the success youve earned.
Youve read about goal setting, and youve tried it, and you still seem to miss your goals. How can that happen and why? If youve read anything about goal setting you know you have to make your goals realistic. I was just talking with a coaching client who wanted to replace their income within 30 days, so they could quit their job from a business they started just 6 weeks ago. At the time of the conversation this client had generated zero revenue. So was that a realistic goal, probably not. Setting big goals is great, but you have to step them down into whats doable this week and today.
Go ahead and plan big, and plan long-term just break it down into short-term pieces. So if you were like the person in my example and you needed to generate $4,000 in revenue from your new business that would mean you need to generate $1,000 each week and $200 a day. Now you may not even have anyone in your sales funnel at this point. So even stepping the revenue down isnt going deep enough for you to have success today or this week. You would need to figure out how to market yourself so you could get people in your sales funnel. Before you would know how to market yourself you would need to research your market and find out what they want. Then you would need to figure out how to position yourself to fulfill that want in your market. Are you starting to see why the approach to goal setting that youre using now may not be working because youve overlooked the underlying building blocks youll need to succeed?
Ok, so now you have an idea as to where and why youve had problems with your personal goal planning and setting. Have you been writing your goals down? If you havent start now. If you have pull one out that just isnt getting legs and taking you anywhere. Start listing what has gotten in your way and what is keeping you from getting that goal now. Brain storm some ideas for possible solutions, and then choose just one that looks like a winner. Set a new goal for implementing that solution making sure you can track and measure your progress. Include a date to start and a date to finish. I think you may be surprised by how much this helps.
